Cannot start AWE

  • I cannot start AWE because the sqlserver service login account is not added to the local security policy "Lock pages in memory". When I try to add the login account to the security policy I receive an error "The specified domain either does not exist or cannot be contacted.

This is a windows2k advanced server cluster running sql2k sp3a. This all started after applying hardening scripts required by my company. I have applied these so many other times without issues but on this unique domain I am having issues.

HELP!! how do I add the cluster domain account to lock pages in memory. (I can do local accounts ok)

  • When you check the application and system event log for the server, do you see any error messages about not being able to contact a domain controller, just in general? Are your domain administrators seeing an error saying the computer's machine account is invalid within their system even logs on any of the domain controllers? Have you checked to make sure the time on the server is within 5 minutes of the times on the domain controllers?

  • Thank you for your response. We did get a resolution by defining the dns servers ip address on the public network card in tcp/ip properties

    Thank You again.
