notification of scheduled task

  • We have begun running Apache 1.3.  To rotate logs, we have decided to stop the service and rename the log and restart it.  I did find an application that does pipe to a filename, but again, we decided to stay away from additional "complications".

We have setup our email and pagers to be notified in case the job fails.  But is there any way to actually call our home phones in case it doesn't restart at midnight?  I know for a fact I am counting some serious sheep at midnight and would most likely not hear my pager.

  • I would assume it could be done, but not without an additional piece.  You'd need some dialer, or maybe one of those web based phone services.  That's just my first instinct, may not be right.  My solution to my pager not waking me up is to put it on vibrate, then place it in a metal pan next to my bed

Two muffins are sitting in an oven. The first one turns to the second and says "pretty hot in here, huh?"
The second muffin glances at the first and then shrieks in fear,
    "AAAAAAHH!!! A TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
