Development license?

  • We are trying to purchase a new server for our development team.  This box will only be used for development, but will be used by up to 6 SQL Server developers.  Can we install the developers version of SQL Server?

What about MSDN?  With a subscription to MSDN, could we load that box using our MSDN disks and still be within the proper licensing rules?

    Thanks for your help.

  • **disclaimer** I am not a MS employee and am certainly not authorized to provide definitive licensing answers***

I believe that if each of your developers have an MSDN license you are good to go.  If not, the developer edition is only $50 per developer so it isn't going to break the bank either...

  • Disclaimer understood.  This is what my research tells me, too, but it is nice to know someone else came to the same conclusion.

    Thanks,
