Port

  • How do I change the SQL Server port number from the default(1433) to something else, like 2344

    Thanks

  • Go to the Server Network Utility and change the Default port number under TCP/IP.

  • Thankyou for the reply stacenic. I am sorry for putting my question wrong. I want to change the port on the Clustered Servers. I was trying to do what you have said on the clustered node it is not allowing me to do it by giving the following message "The SQL Server XXXXXXXXXX is a clustered resource". Any thoughts how I can do it?

  • It works for me.

Log into one of the physical nodes and go to the server configuration utility. Select the server that you want to change in the drop down box. Hit the TCP/IP properties and change the port. Hit apply and you are done. You will have to restart sql afterwards.
