  I have a clustered index which had 80% Scan Density and 24% Extent Scan Fragmentation. After running DBREINDEX it came up with 100% Scan Density and 75% Extent Scan Fragmentation. Why has Extent Scan Fragmentation gone from 24 to 75? What could cause this? From my understanding Extent Scan Fragmentation shows gaps between extents. Why does it get worse after a DBREINDEX? Interleaving tables?

  I think that Scan Density shows the true fragmentation value. So you should only be aware of that value. The higher the best.
