Clustering Again

  • Hi all,

I've read clustering article in this web site, I still confuse about resources which needs on clustering configuration, also drive assignment while installing sql server cluster.

First, for active-active setup, are we need minimum 2 SCSI/Shared Disk, or 1 is enough?

Second, can we install second/named instance (sql instance for secondary node) at the same drive which used for default instance. For example, let say we install default instance for primary node at Drive O, and then we install second/named instance for secondary node at Drive O too, is it possible? how to setup it?

Last, how to setup sql server cluster with 2 or more SCSI/Shared Disk?

    Regards,

    Nugon

  • Each SQL Server instance needs at least one logical disk resource and two instances can't share the same disk resource.

You could creaet multiple logical disks with 2 SCSI/Shared Disks as you like.
