Explore Snapshot Folder error

  • Hi,

When I right-click on a Publication in the Replications folder and select "Explore the Latest Snapshot Folder", I get an error that says "The specified file was not found".

When I created the Publication I changed the default location for the snapshot files to be another shared directory instead of the default Admin share that it offered.

I know that my directory does exist because I can browse it with Explorer and see the snapshot files that are in there. I've also changed the Snapshot Location under the Properties of the Publication to point to the new directory too, but I still get this error.

I'm logged in as Administrator too, so permissions shouldn't be an issue!

I know I've probably missed something obvious - any tips?

    TIA

    Andrew

  • Check running sp_browsesnapshotfolder to see if it finds it. If not I think that you didn't changed right the property of the snapshot folder. If possible, drop and re create the publication with the new alternate snapshot folder.

  • I'll check as you suggested and see what that reveals, but I also created a new Publication and didn't change the directories, I just left the default Admin directory and still got the same problem!!

  • sp_browsesnapshotfolder complained about there being no transactional or snaphot publications. The thing I forgot to mention in my original post is my Publication is a Merge publication.

Does this mean I can't use this feature for Merge?

  • Yes. that sp it is only for snapshot or transactional replication.

  • Would that also explain my original problem then of trying to use the "Explore Latest Snapshot Folder" itemfrom the pop-up menu?
