Good Oracle DBA book/CD for a SQL Server DBA

  • Hi All,

I am looking to learn Oracle on a (Solaris & Linux) platform, I am very used to SQL server and I would like a recomendation as to what book/CD that i can study/read.

Also, can anyone recomend any training course providers in the UK ?

    Thanks in advance

  • You could try Oracle directly, i believe they hold training in Reading. Alternatively Learning tree offer their own training courses on Oracle 10g et al. Not been on any though so I couldn't comment on the standard.

As for a book I like this one:

    Expert Oracle Database 10g Administration

    Sam R. Alapti

    Apres

    Gethyn Elliswww.gethynellis.com

  • I like the "Oracle 10g DBA" Handbook by Kevin Loney and Bob Bryla. Also if you want UNIX or LINUX books, for quick reference, I like the "UNIX In a Nutshell" and "LINUX In a Nutshell" books by O'Reilly.
