Is DTS/SQL Integration Services suitable?

  • Hi

I've been doing a fair bit of reading about DTS/IS (we'll hopefully be moving from SQL 2000 to 2005 shortly). I've pretty much convinced myself that DTS/IS is suitable for the task I want to perform.

I'd be grateful for any feedback/thoughts.

My task is to be able to accept document imports in csv, xml or some other structured type of document into a specified folder on the server then have SQL Server automatically import it into the database.

During the import process I would need to be able to read the data and make decisions/manipulate the data before it is inserted into the database.

I would also need to add data depending on certain decisions into the record before inserting it into the database.

Sound like a reasonable set of requirements for DTS/IS?

  • No problem!

  • Excellent! That's the most succinct answer I've ever received on a forum! Thank you very much!
