Sign-On

  • I have set up an Import DTS to extract data from an AS400. You need to sign on when accessing the AS400 data. I want to schedule the DTS Package to extract the data every morning. I have tested this but it does not work. I think it is because of the sign-on. Any ideas on how to get around this?

    Thanks

  • I haven't used DTS to import from AS400, but you should be able to specify the login and password in the AS400 connection in your DTS package.

If you can provide any details about what happens when you test it, maybe someone can offer advice.

  • 1. Set up a user account in iSERIES (AS400) with the same username and password as the user currently logged in the Windows server.

    2. In the iSERIES (Operations) navigator set the connection object(s) to use the same username and password as in Windows. When you set up a DNS (ODBC) connection you always specify one connection object.

  • The version of iSeries driver makes a difference, too.  I tried setting up a linked server using version 7 or 8 ODBC driver, and had the login issue with scheduled jobs.  We now use the version 9 driver and haven't gotten the login box once.  All jobs use stored procedures referencing the linked server--works great.
