Adding a Data File to TEMPDB

    I am wanting to add 2 data files to my TEMPDB accross 2 drives in an effort to reduce contention on one of our SQL servers. As a newbie my question is can I add these "on the fly" or should I wait until I can get exclusive access to the SQL server?

    You can add them on the fly, but you need to be sure that all three of the tempdb data files are the same size.
