start sql server 2000 problem

  • Hello everyone, I am writing here because I have a problem with SQL Server 2000.

When I try to connect or start a server in the Enterpriser Manager or through the SQL Server Manager Utility I get the following error.

Error: A connection could not be established to MICROSF-83DC70.

Reason: SQL- Server does not exist, or access absent.

    Connection Open (Connect ()…

Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties( by right clicking on the MICROSF-83DC70 node) and try again.

I would like to know if any of you could help to connect it... what should I do to start it??

    Thanks in advance

  • Access absent?? Do you mean access denied? The error you are seeing usually happens when you don't have permissions to connect to the SQL instance. Are you trying to connect with SQL Server authentication or Windows?
