Logship problem

  • Hi all:

I have SQL2000SP4 with logship setup to backup the source every 15 minutes and restore to destination every hour. frequently the restore job on destination server hangs hangs and shows as "restoring" but the process actually do not do anything (mem usage and CPU is 0) is anyone had this problem before? any idea how to fix it.

by the way for work around I have to manually top the restore job and restart it again then it goes through.

    thanks

  • Does the restore job is in hanged state for long time and eventually you are starting from scratch by restoring the full backup ? Can you check the restore job history for any clues ?

Also have you enabled the option to disconnect users while restoring because if users are accessing the database the restore operation will fail.

I think this thread needs to be moved to appropriate forum for better response. May be some moderator can assist in that 🙂

  • the restore job only hangs but not the restore process it self so it will cause the logship go out of sysnc. I stop the job(and sometime I have to kill the process) and when I restart the job it will resume the log restore from where it left over so no need to restore full backup and apply the logs.

so for some reason after it restores the last log the job does not terminate and will stay in "execute" state.

  • sorry forgot to say:

yes, I disconnect users for restore process also logship history does not show any clues.
