Sql server 2008 R2 licensing

    Hi all,

    We are migrating 2008 r2 instances to new location and new servers.

    So, its a new build.

    Can existing licenses be applicable for new servers or we will have to buy licenses per core for new servers ?

    I think 2008 R2 licensing is per processor not core. SQL 2012+ is per core.

    So if you have the same number of processors it should be fine.
