Visual Studio stable version

  • Hi Could you please let me know the stable version of Visual Studio downloadable available for SQL Server 2014 ? thanks

  • there are two specific, separate free downloads called SQL Server Data Tools(SSDT /SSDT-BI) that are related to SQL server 2014, so that you can do Data related projects or Business intelligence related projects.

there's also a few flavors, VS2012 and VS2013, as well as the new stuff for SQL2016

the downloads will either create or enhance Visual Studio so that you can work on those kinds of projects.

Download SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT or SSDT-BI)

--help us help you! If you post a question, make sure you include a CREATE TABLE... statement and INSERT INTO... statement into that table to give the volunteers here representative data. with your description of the problem, we can provide a tested, verifiable solution to your question! asking the question the right way gets you a tested answer the fastest way possible!

  • And if you are trying to choose between VS2012 and VS2013, I'd recommend VS 2013: it's newer and (IMO) better.

If you haven't even tried to resolve your issue, please don't expect the hard-working volunteers here to waste their time providing links to answers which you could easily have found yourself.

  • And Visual Studio, both versions mentioned, has been quite stable.

  • In recent years, the underlying tools (BIDS, SSDT, VS, etc.) provided by Microsoft to support BI development are more stable than Microsoft's overall BI development game plan. Standing alone, they all work great, but it's difficult to know which version is the latest and best version to use, and in a medium or large sized IT department, it near impossible to keep all the developers on the same version.

  • Both are stable but Visual Studio 2013 has many features like ASP.NET, IDE, MSBuild, LightSwitch, Code lense, Browser link
