One of the minor features/quirks/annoyances of MS Access is that if you create a single macro or code module you get a prompt to ‘Enable Content’, designed to prevent malicious code from running without you knowing it. I tend to just leave it open for long periods and so it doesn’t bother me much, but this week I was packaging up something for someone else to run and wanted to remove this if I could.

It turned out to be easier to do than I expected. If you open up the Trust Center there are a bunch of options. Rather than deal with signing, I went with the second option on the menu, trusted locations. Since it was going to be in a standard location I just set that folder to be trusted (C:andy in the gray line below). Worked the first time! Not the right solution if you need real security, but this is a one-off with no sensitive data and the user will appreciate it – now I can set an autoexec macro that will do 90% of what they need without them thinking about it.
