Management data wareouse performance issues??

  • Hi Experts,

We are planning to enable MDW on the production servers, however I am worried regarding the performance issues on production servers due to MDW as the management has asked me to install it on all the production servers (no reporting server).

Is there any link or document which can tell me whether I should enable it on the production servers or no?

    Regards,

  • Have you tested it out in a test environment? Was there a noticeable performance degradation? Have you had reliable reports of performance degradations caused by MDW?

  • yes, currently I am testing it on the test env. However I do not see any performance degradation in memory or CPU processing except high I/O activity on the drive where the MDW database is located.

I haven't received any call from users as far as the performance issue is considered...

  • A lot of space in the MDW can be taken for system objects. I suggest you look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2793580 to see how to exclude system objects.
