Replication Error

  • When trying to View the Synchronization status of a database I'm looking to replicate I get an error stating. The database "DbName" cannot be opened. It is acting as a mirror database.

I have checked names over and over again and this isn't the database that I'm publishing or subscribing from. I have several databases being mirrored on the partner and another database being replicated.

Any suggestions and what else to check and look for? Wondering why it keeps picking up the Database that is being mirrored.

    Jonathan,

I am a bit confused here. Are we talking about replication or mirroring. You referencing both above.

Have you checked the state_desc in sys.databases for the database that you are trying to connect to? Might be helpful, might not. Either way, can you try being a bit more specific, maybe try explain the steps that you are doing, etc.

  • What happened was that it was a stored procedure that was trying to update a mirrored database.

Therefore I could not replicate that article over. Once I removed that article the replication worked right away.

The error was throwing me off because it was stating that it could not replicate to a mirrored database.
