The problem im having is a IE saying Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage the SQL monitor page just wont lunch there's no other error message nothing... not much to go on and i know the issue is to do with IIS has anyone else set up SQL monitor on and IIS server before can someone tell me what settings i need to supply when creating the website? i have followed whats on Redgates site but no luck.

The Server is also our reporting server so im sure IIS is configured correctly... but i could be wrong any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • I believe few guys here worked on Red Gate software but it’s not the right place to post this issue.

Keep bugging Red Gate support until they help.

  • Hi,

The issue may being caused by default security settings in IE. Maybe you could try another browser and see if that works or not. Also, try adding SQL Monitor URL to the list of trusted sites in Internet Explorer options.

It could also be a permissions issue due to the increased security in IIS 7.5. There's a section called Troubleshooting IIS7.5 on this help page that you may not have seen. Please try this too.

    Thanks,

    Priya

  • thanks for your guys help will look into it... and get on redgate for more assistance but got a feeling they going to say they dont support the IIS component as its microsoft issue

  • Hello,

Apologies, I should have mentioned in my previous reply that I work for Red Gate's SQL Monitor team. Yes, we are also handling your support call internally also.

As far as IIS is concerned, we do support IIS 6, 7 and 7.5. But IIS set up is different from IIS support. IIS set up is very environment specific and it depends a lot on what is configured in your environment. Most of these factors are not in our control. That's the reason we decided to support our own built-in web server which is very easy to install. We always recommend users to install Monitor's built-in web server first. If that works, we at least know that there is no problem with Monitor. Then you can always set up IIS in parallel. But then if you encounter any issue then it is to do with set up rather then Monitor. But as mentioned before I hope you appreciate that every environment is different and we try our best to help with IIS set up but then it is always not possible for us to know why something is not working as we do not have access/ know your environment.

    Regards,

    Priya
