I deleted about 60 gigs from 4 history tables where does the space that I have cleared go?

    I deleted about 60 gigs from 4 history tables where does the space that I have cleared go?

    Does the history tables keep that space or does it go to the database?

    will this make my backups smaller?

    It'll become free space within the data file. You may need to rebuild the clustered index of that table to fully free up the space. Yes, it will make your backups smaller.
