converting from 2005 to 2008 issue

  • I got a new laptop with Visual Studio 2008 so when I try to open my projects, it prompts to convert to 2008. The conversion says successfull, and I can open the reports, but when I click on Preview, it returns the same error message for all reports. This report doesn't even exist so I dont know why its trying to look for it. How can I fix this?

  • What happens if you create a completely new report? Without more details (from the description/name of the report in the error) could you have a subreport on your standard reports that it is looking for?

  • It works fine if I create a new report. Some of the existing reports do have a sub-report but I am sure its pointing to another report since the one in the error doesn't even exist in my directory. Lets say one of the existing report was looking for that report...shouldn't it just error out on that report and not all?

  • It depends. Maybe the subreport has a subreport. The report as listed is linked in someway to the migrated report (my reason for asking about a new report). Try copying a migrated report content (excluding the subreport) to a new report. If this runs then try running the subreport on its own.

  • I am so stupid...all I had to do was delete the missing RDL's that was showing up in Solution Explorer
