I am unable to start the Sql Server Agent, getting following error
"The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion. Consult the event log or other applicable error logs for details."
I checked the Even viewer, "SQLServerAgent sergice successfully stopped".
appreciated help on this!

Take a look at the SQL Server Agent Error logs, SQL Server Error logs and the Windows Event viewer. Check for any relevant errors at the time when you tried to start the Agent.
Check the SQL Server Agent service in the configuration manager and get the service account that is used to run the service. Confirm if the password for that account has been changed lately. If yes then you will have to update the service with the new password.

Which account do you use for the SQL Server Agent?

Is SQL Server Service started? If not, I'd also check your disk drives to make sure they aren't full.
