SSRS 2008 R2 - Jump back to parent button missing

  • We have SSRS 2008 R2, we have Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2. I am using IE9 on Windows 7. We do not have it integrated with Sharepoint or anything else.

When I am in visual studio and previewing a report there is a button to go back to the main report. Once i deploy to IE that functionality is lost. I have done alot of searching and cannot get a good answer, a lot of the posts are different versions or are integrated. I know I could code a button to jump back, but would rather not if i don't have to. I know you can also use the IE back button but that causes the report to regenerate, which I'd also rather not do.

If anyone knows why or how to fix this issue, I would appreciate any info. I just think its great that you can use things during development but not for implementation.

    Thanks - K8

  • I always thought that was just part of Visual Studio. For a live report I always the back button.

  • I am facing the same issue. The "back to parent report" icon was missing once I deployed my reports to the server. Here's a workaround http://elonblackman.wordpress.com/2010/07/31/adding-a-back-button-to-a-ssrs-drill-through-report/. I refused to try this because I believe Microsoft should (if not already so) provided a fix.

SSRS is starting to annoy me nowadays with their limitations and inconsistencies between BIDS and SSRS servers.
