UAC permissions for Report server

  • I am having trouble connecting to my local report server. I have to turn off User Account Controls in Vista to access. When it is on I get a message saying I don't have permission to use the service. Can someone help me set these permissions so I can turn on my UAC?

  • have you tried to connect to the report server by launching IE by right clicking and selecting "run as administrator"?

  • Yes tried that and this is the error I am getting:

User 'RAC-PC\RAC' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.

  • verify that your roles are properly set.

start up SSMS and connect to the SSRS instance.

Under Security --> System Roles, verify that the System Administrator has the proper settings.

Under Roles, verify that the Role you assigned yourself under the root SSRS folder has the needed rights.

  • btw, there is also a difference between using http://localhost/ blah vs http://127.0.0.1/blah

    try using localhost.

Under security I see Server roles not system roles and I gave my user all permissions by going to properties and under server roles checking all the boxes. Still get the same error

  • that sounds like you are connecting to the Database Engine.

    Connect to Reporting Services instead.
