Normal excel pivot tables allow the user to double-click a datum to extract the underlying data into a new worksheet. Is this available in Powerpivot at all?

The underlying data is in the PowerPivot model. You can access this by clicking on the PowerPivot Window button.
If you just want to look at the data, that should be sufficient.
If you want to export the data, you can use a regular PivotTable to connect to the datasource and do the export.
(I do not known if there is a feature in PowerPivot that is exactly the same as in a regular Pivot, but I don't have PowerPivot on this machine, so I can't check it now).

Did a bit of research, and I found this:
There is no drill-through, but with a bit of a workaround using regular PivotTables you can achieve somewhat the same result.

That workaround will be fine - thanks a lot for the help. I figured drill-through isn't available as the volume of data returned could exceed the max row count in Excel.
