Quorum disk failed

  • Hi,

We have 2 node A/p cluster set up for SQL Server 2008 on Windows 2008 Servers

I'm getting the below error about the quorum disk

The Cluster service failed to bring clustered service or application 'Cluster Group' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered service or application.

But the nodes are up and SQL instance is up and applications connecting SQL Server also do not have any impact.

I did not understand how the cluster is working when the Quorum is down?

    Thanks

  • There are 4 quorum modes in Windows 2008 - 3 of these involve 'node majority', which means each node in the cluster has a vote. In 'node and disk majority', the quorum disk can fail, but the cluster will still function. It removes the single point of failure issue presented by the quorum disk in earlier versions. Best guess is that your cluster is running in one of these node majority modes.

  • Hi Guys,

Except for the fact that the Quorum is down and SQL can still function, how did you fix the Quorum ?
