Cannot enter sa password during installation

    I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 Std edition 32-bit onto a Windows Server 2003 R2 EE, 32-bit operating system. I am at the point of setting the sa password and I am getting the error that the password does not meet the strong password requirements. I have tried 7-8 passwords and none of them work. The latest password is T6&0%Qei3t&B4k). Can someone please tell me why this is not a strong password? I have done numerous installs and I have never run into this problem.

    The 'strong password' requirements are based off the domain's password policy. Check what that is.

    I am aware of this. As I said, I have done numerous installs and I have never had this problem before.

    I check with my server and security admins first thing and they say that there has been no changes in the domain policy.

    Try to avoid using &% and see if you make it through.

    Set it up with windows authentication only, and set yourself as an administrator. After the install, go back and set the sa pwd (unchecking the boxes for checking strength, etc.), and set it up for mixed authentication.

    If you can't explain to another person how the code that you're copying from the internet works, then DON'T USE IT on a production system! After all, you will be the one supporting it!
