sos_scheduler_yield moderate CPU usage

  • Hi

I am getting lots of sos_scheduler_yield last weight types showing on runnable procesess, I am not sure why this is happening there are 47 cores all seem to be doing stuff and CPU usage rarely get s above 30%.

I thought you could get this with high CPU? Any ideas how to find out what is causing this?

    Many thanks

  • Edward - Please read through this blog post, check some of the other counters mentioned and provide feedback at that point.

  • Answer to my own question

after much hunting around NUMA(hardware only) was suspected. Saw a poor and very high distribution between the nodes on perf counters buffer nodes\Foreign pages.

Added -T8015 which disables hardware NUMA and performance improved drastically and SOS wait types became insignificant.

    werid!

  • any authentication about this flag

    -T8015
