Hey Gurus and Great Geeks,
I've been assigned the task of converting all of our Crystal Reports into RDL reports via SSRS 2008 R2 :w00t:. I know this is not an easy task, and I haven't found much help googling this topic either. My questions are:
1.) Would it be easier to convert them to RDLC, then convert the RDLC to RDL(I know how to convert RDLC to RDL)? If so, any suggestions?
2.) Would it be easiest to completely recreate them in SSRS 2008 R2?
3.) Anyone know of any helpful tools and/or software that could help accomplish this task of converting the reports?
Any replies would be GREATLY Appreciated 😀

[font="Times New Roman"]Ans- Go with RDLC, If you are using Windows applications which embeds the RDLC reports, It is easy for distribution.
Go with RDL (Reports deployed in Report Server), if the reports are accessed from Web server/Intranet ( I would recommend this,easy to update the reports if there is any changes)[/font]

ofcourse MS gives u easy report design/dev[/font].

[font="Times New Roman"]I did converted around 50+ Crystalreports to SSRS 2008, all of them manually. Haven't seen any tools for this as 2 different architecture is not easy to club. Crystal formulas & functions look complex but rewriting to SSRS is simple and easy if you know little vb.net[/font].

Thanks for the Reply Dhans. We're going with the route of purchasing this crystal report converter called KTL Crystal Converter. It does a good job converting them and grabbing the custom script, formulas, headers, etc, but only in 2000; however, converting 2000 to 2005 is less strenuous than converting them fully to 2008, and the good news is that the ssrs 2008 report server, as well as Denali, still supports and renders 2005 reports. So this will give us time to figure out what it is we want to do for a long term goal. We don't have the time to rebuild them in ssrs 2008, nor would I want to 😉 but this seemed like the best solution....at the moment 🙂

Try Crystal Migration Services. It will convert your rpt to rdl in SSRS 2008 R1 format. Some customers found it is noticably better that others. The site is as follows.
