column change from smallint to int with initialize with backup replication option

    I have SQL 2008 publisher and subscriber with pull and "initialize with backup" replication setup ,now we need to change one of article column datatype to int from smallint though we have "replicate schema change" to true but want to make sure does it work if subscription is set up with "initialize with backup" option?

    Just to add ,i tested and columns datatype were replicated fine but getting error for PK column ,is there any way to handle PK column without dropping the article?
