SQL Server 2008 R2 & Visual Studio 2008 or 2010

    I recently installed SQL Server 2008 R2 on my home network.

    I have been developing in VB.net & ASP.NET, and am unable to get them to communicate over my network. Using the connection wizard in Visual Studio it recognizes the Server, however if does not recognize SQL. I have manually opened port 1433, as well as making sure the browser service is running. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    The first thing I would probably try is create a simple ODBC connection through the Windows Data Sources. This would at least take everything else out of the picture.
