URGENT: How Can I Let Win admin apply hotfix But Prevent DML

    Can I grant CONTROL SERVER and add a bunch of DENYs or could the admin use his CONTROL SERVER to get round my DENYs. The Win Admin needs to apply a hotfix but I want to make sure he can't do anything in the user DBs.

    In SQL Server 2008, a system admin (Network administrator) is not a sysadmin on the SQL Server by default. If you do not add the group or user to SQL Server, the sysadmin cannot do anything on the DB. But all hotfixes can be applied. Make sure that you have not added the Administrators to your SQL Server.
