I found the SP2 which i installed was downloaded in March and i even found My Workstation Components not upgraded to 3042 and i still found then with 1399... but on the top of my Management Studio...it has been displaying 3042 .... vay to do?

I found on this google ...

    http://blogs.msdn.com/psssql/archive/2007/04/06/post-sql-server-2005-service-pack-2-sp2-fixes-explained.aspx

How can i make my Maintainance plan work?

  • Did you also apply SP2 for your client tools on the workstation?

Do you get the same error if you work directly on the server instead of connecting through a workstation?

  • Hi

    Thankq for your reply!

I installed SP2 just 2 days back (but downloaded it before mar 5th) ... but it failed to upgrade the Client tools.

I found them not upgraded (and still on 1399).... what must i do now?

I am planning to install client tools of new SP2 file as well as the bug fix (Hot fix) GRD2 ....

    what do you say?

  • It doesn't matter when you downloaded the SP2. The file is still the same.

Remember to apply SP2 on the server as well on each workstation you have SQL (client) installed.

What errors did you encounter when applying SP2?

  • No, The file which was available on MS Web site is not same as the file which is

available now as they found some bugs .......

    Please check the link below.....

  • Looks like you refer to a download of March 2007. In that case download the most recent file from Microsoft site and apply this to your server and workstations.

Most people say you do apply all available hot-fixes (especially security).

The opinion differs regarding applying Cumulative Update packages. Some say only apply CU's when experiencing problems (don't fix if it aint broken), others say always keep your system up-to-date (prevent errors before they occur).

Also keep in mind SP3 is expected to be released next month.

  • Hi

    Thanq...

In fact .... i already installed that older version of SP2 which already upgraded some of

    components except notification and Client...

Can we re-install the new SP2 file on already installed old SP2?

    Thanking you once again ...

  • You can just start of the installation. It will first execute a check about the current configuration and display any errors and warnings found.

  • I've had exactly the same problem when installing 2005 Sp2 on my 2008 server.

Surprisingly (or, maybe, not :hehe:) it was fixed by installing Visual studio 2005 SP1 and Vista compatibility SP1 (VS80sp1-KB926601-X86-ENU.exe

    and VS80sp1-KB932232-X86-ENU.exe)
