Install 64-bit sql studio of 32-bit pc

  • Hi all: We run SQL 2005 64-bit. I have been using SQL studio by remoting onto the server and running it there. My question is this - How can I obtain the 32-bit version so I can run it on my 32-bit workstation??? Does MS allow this (licensing?)?

    Thanks, Chris

  • Client connectivity tools installation is not licensed.

Licensing is going either on a "per connection" basis or "per CPU" of the server basis.

OK, looks like I am good license-wise. How do I get the software (32-bit) as the 64-bit dvd/cds do not include it?

Appreciate your time and help, Chris.

  • Chris,

I would assume that ordering a 32 bit version of the same media would be an ideal way. It is completely legal and would cost you (if any) around $5.

Meanwhile you can download an evaluation copy and install only client tools.

Keep in mind that this installation will expire in 180 days and you would have to rerun installation when you will get your 32 bit media...
