We have databases on 32 bit server and planning to move them to 64 bit server on 2005 ,SP-2. Before moving we would like to baseline performance on 32 bit server. Can anyone tell me how do you make baseline of performance in detail.
On this server there was a Database with compatability level 80 and we changed it to 90. Will there be any performance issues.
What are the things need to be looked up?
After moving Database to 64 bit Server,we want to perform load test. How to carry this without using any tools.
I will be thankful for all your inputs.

yeah right - no easy answer to this. You should trend/baseline your existing server/databases. Establish a time for doing certain things, even if it's a checkdb or a full index rebuild or a backup - something that you can repeat .

With no other difference moving from 32bit to 64bit, the performance difference will be entirely any increased memory made available. However, if you bought the old server more than a month earlier the entire set of hardware is probably different - from the processors to the drives.
There is not going to be a great way to compare this. The shiney new machine with faster processors and 4 times as much memory CAN be configured to run faster. Spend the time to test and optimize it's configuration and ignore the old machine entirely. Baseline the new machine to itself with different configuration options.
