Not going directly to the message after login

  • Hi,

I thought I would post this problem to see if it might get fixed.  I receive the SQLServerCentral.com Daily Update email at my hotmail.com account.  When I click on the link to view the topc it asks me to login.  Fair enough.  I enter in my login information and click login.  But after I login it doesn't take me directly to that topic.  It brings me to some sort of blank forum page.  Here are some example links below.

The link I click when viewing the Daily Update message in my hotmail account.  Which brings me to an Access Is Denied page.

    http://qa.sqlservercentral.com/accessdenied.aspx?SourceURL=/forums/shwmessage.aspx?forumid=4&messageid=251652

I click the Login URL in the page and it brings me to the login page.  I enter in my login information and click Login.

    http://qa.sqlservercentral.com/forums/logon.aspx?ReturnURL=forums/shwmessage.aspx?forumid=4&messageid=251652

This is the link after I login.  It doesn't bring up the messageid 251652.

The only workaround I found is to close the newly opened browser window and try the first link again.  After that point it works no problem.

If it could be fixed that would be great.

  • I experience exactly the same problem.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong... I also receive the SQLServerCentral.com Daily Update email on a hotmail.com account.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one. 🙂

  • Did you try the troubleshooting tips and suggestions on the Access is Denied page, they specifically mention hotmail?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

  • I've noticed when receiving emails that have links in them it would open a smaller IE window with the MSN frame at the top.

But clicking on the link in the SQLServerCentral.com Daily Updates eamil does open up a brand new IE window. But with no frames. It's just as if you were to manually open up an IE window yourself and copy the link into the address bar. Same kind of result.

So I'm not sure if it specifically Hotmails problem. But that of SQLServerCentral.com's login process that it may accidently forget to put the &messageid at the end of the URL. After a successful login of course.
