Load Balancing in SQL Server 2000 Clustering

  • Hi,

We are about to implement Windows clustering in our organization and I have been assigned the task of SQL Server failover Clustering.

We are going to use a SAN for the shared storage space and its going to be a two-node failover clustering.

But my manager wants me to do load balancing between the two servers aka nodes. I am of the view that it is not possible to do so with SQL Clustering.

Can someone point me to some sites so that i can prove to my manager that load balancing is not possible between the two nodes.

    Regards,

    RSingh

  • Set the sql servers as an active/active cluster and u can put different databases on each cluster but still have failover protecion for each node of the cluster.
