  • Anyone knows of a good training class for Microsoft Analysis 2005? I'm located in the San Francisco bayarea, anywhere close to here would be good, but open to other locations too.

  • Steve, I couldn't agree more about the Conference attendance being part vacation/part intensive training. if you're lucky enough to work someplace where that is recognized as a good thing, it's wonderful. Of course, if you have a boss that's more interested in you getting  'intensive training', then leave out the 'vacation' part.

I think now with SQL Server 2005 content being the core of most SQL Server Conferences now, they can be a hard sell for those whose enterprise isn't yet ready to move there.

I would propose that for those on a small budget to check out the Microsoft e-Learning modules. I registered for a FREE one and it was very helpful.

  • Greate article. I liked the points about keeping your boss up to speed on your training needs. That's always something that we're all too aware of, but somehow it always to slip by with other deadlines and issues that always pop up. (Why is it that 90% of problems occur when it's time to go home?)

Getting to conferences is tough when you're low on the totem pole or there is no money in the budget, but the other suggestions are very helpful.
