SMTP - Possible permissions problem?

  Hi,

  SQL Server 2000 on Windows 2003 Server (std edition)

  We use sp_send_cdontsmail successfully on several machines however I have a problem on our newest server.

  I CAN successfully send CDO mail from this machine using vb-script which suggests that IIS on local and the SMTP server are set up correctly.

  Cannot fathom why sp_send_cdontsmail does not work. There are no error messages and nothing in the queue or badmail folders.

  Can anyone help please?

  Hi,

  I'm still at a loss on this one.

  Company expert suggests I write my own utility however I am heavily invested in sp_send_cdonts so am considering a re-installation of SQL server.

  Any suggestions or tips will be most appreciated.

  Hi all,

  FIXED:

  Hadn't realised the differences between CDONTS and CDOSYS.

  CDOSYS doesn't use IIS or Virtual SMTP server.

  I have modified my "send SMTP email" stored procedure to configure CDO object with SMTP server address etc. and it works a treat.
