The Twelve Days of SQL

  • The community is you. All of you out there that somehow join in reading blogs, writing blogs, attending events, volunteering and more. My life is better for getting the chance to know a few of you and I look forward to shaking more hands in 2011.

Christmas came early for me at the PASS summit when I got the opportunity to talk with you one-on-one for a couple of hours over a couple of cold ones. Merry Christmas Steve.

I realize this is a "global" community and many folks don't celebrate Christmas but here's to the folks who keep SQL Server Central alive and kicking including employees, lurkers, casual users, neophytes, and alumni alike.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.
"Change is inevitable... change for the better is not".

May I join Jeff in the above, and add a Happy New Year to ALL

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

  • Who are these people?!? No, seriously, I haven't heard of most of them. 😛

Anyhow, Happy/Merry <insert individual celebration preference here> to one and all.

I think that is a fun part of the blog meme / tagging concept. When you follow along, you may encounter somebody you hadn't heard of and like the stuff that person writes.

BTW, the next person is Karen Lopez[/url] (but her post isn't up yet).

Merry Christmas, everyone, and Tom, I hadn't even met a few of them before (online or off), prior to November. This is a group of people that Brent Ozar respected, and he challenged them to each write a piece. I'll write the wrapup on Monday, with a link to everyone's posts.
