Export data into CSV file in unix format

    Sofar We are providing the db data to client in excel files using import/export wizard in sql server 2005.

    Now client is asking the tables data in saperate CSV files in unix format. is it possible?

    As far as I know SQL Server 2005 runs on Windows system. Please advice

    Hi,

    You can use the same export data tool, but choose Flat File Destination and make sure to select LF as the row delimiter.

    If it has worked, when you open one of the text files in Notepad, it will all be one long line, whereas in Wordpad it will be one line per row of data.

    Make sure you transfer the files in Binary mode if using FTP or zip them up before sending so that they are not modified to include a CR-LF line ending.

    But how to convert the CSV windows file into CSV (Unix format). Is there any feature in SQL Server, or any third party tools? Please let me know.

    In our database there are 250+ tables.

    If Understood correct,

    I need to select the file.csv

    format : delimited

    select: column names in the first data row

    row delimited: LF

    Column delimiter: Comma {,}

    So output CSV file is compatible with Unix, Please correct me If I am wrong.
