DB Mail fails in a job but fine in a test.

  I can send messages via SP and from the Test Email option.

  But when I request a completion message I get nothing. No record of the transaction in SELECT * FROM sysmail_mailitems

  I do see this attached to the History:

  The last step to run was step 1 (Log shipping backup log job step.). NOTE: Failed to notify 'sqlinfo' via email.

  I am dealing with messages on LS just to see if it works.

  My sysmail_mailitems has 8 transactions, 4 tests and 4 SPs that work.

  How so I get it to message on completion of a job? Jobs will be backups and nightly maintenance types of things.

  I can see the proper setup in the Agent Properties for Database mail. I verify my Profile is there and it points to DB Mail.

  Is DB Mail enabled?

  DatabaseMail on the SQL Server Agent -> properties -> Alert System (check the checkbox), and then restart SQL Server Agent.

  Can you telnet to the SMTP server for the SQL Server?
