Hi experts
Hi i have installed sqlserver 2005 dev edition in Dell server
after installation the server and applications are running very slow
where to check this and how to improve the performence

That's a huge topic and one that you're unlikely to get a complete answer in a post like this. First question, slow as compared to what? From what you're saying, this is your first install. You may not be seeing slow performance, you may be seeing normal performance.
You need to gather information from performance monitor. Focus on wait states and queues. You can also gather query information by setting up a server side trace. There are books written on this top (see below in my signature line). There's that much to learn. To get started, I'd suggest this white paper from Microsoft.
