No history for a job

  When I go into the Job Activity Monitor

  I can see that a job on my server has failed,

  but the job ran last night when I clicked on that job no history is shown.

  I have queried the sysjobs and sysjobhistory table and no history appear in these tables. Why is no history appearing for this job ?

  It sounds like you have hit the maximum job history log size - just increase or clear and that will solve your problems
