Hi guys,
I need some help please! I setup alerts on SQL Server 2005 Studio Manager so an e-mail be sent to me when errors occurs buta alas! no joy. I keep on getting the following error message in the logs:
Message [264] An attempt was made to send an email when no email session has been established
I set alerts on all my maintenance plans as follows:
1. General: Selected severity - 007 Nontification: Status Information
2. Response: Checked Notify Operators and checked E-Mail next to the operators name.
3. Options: Checked E-Mail
The way I set my database mail is as follows:
E-mail address, servername and the port is 25. I used anonymous authentication. When I sent a test e-mail it worked but whenever a e-mail has to be sent from an alert I get the above message.

Do you have a public mail profile & default mail profile?? If not provide public privilege to the profile you have created and make it as default profile [/font]

Manie,

Another thing you might want to check is the Alert System settings, which is a property of the SQL Agent. See if a Enable mail profile is enabled.

Have you setup right SMTP in the DB mail profile?

And ,after setup that, you could take a test.

Yes, I have setup the SMTP right and I did test it and it worked and yes, Enable mail profile is enabled. Thanks for your replies but that is not the problem. You see, after adding the alert on the database, it gives you the option to test the e-mail and it worked but for some reason it can't createa session to send e-mails from the database.
