SQLServerCentral Editorial

Thanks

,

November is a month when many people stop and give thanks for the people and things they appreciate in life. There's a 30 day challenge to list one thing a day that you are thankful for. I didn't do that, but I wanted to take a moment and reflect on the year today.

The SQL Server community is an amazing group of people. In many ways, there is truly a #sqlfamily that bonds many of us together. While we aren't without problems, especially brought to light this week from the PASS organization, we do get along and help each other in an amazing way.

There are many people that I have to thank for my place in this community. I have to say thanks to everyone that's supported me here at SQLServerCentral. This has been the job I've held for the longest time in my life, and the one I've enjoyed more than any other. I very much appreciate the hand shakes and kind words that many people share with me at the various events I am honored to attend.

I also have to thank all the people that pull together and help others. Whether they do so to raise money for a worthy cause, or they answer a question in an attempt to help their fellow data professionals. These kind acts warm my heart and give me hope that despite all the strife and struggles in the world, there are many, many good people that seek to help others.

I definitely have to give thanks to my family for the support they provide. I have a rough travel schedule at times, and if they weren't understanding and supportive, I wouldn't be able to do my job the way I do.

I also want to thank the authors, bloggers, and speakers out there. I learn on a regular basis from many of you. I read your work, and I listen when you speak. I appreciate the knowledge you share, and try to understand and absorb new concepts. We work in an amazing field, that is ever growing wider and deeper in content and possibility, and many of you regularly show me just how exciting technology can be.

It's a holiday for many in the US, but wherever you are, whatever you're doing today, I'd ask that you stop for a moment and silently thank someone. Many of us work hard, and we teach ourselves often, but we also often succeed with help from others. I know I do, and I thank you all.
