Hi all,
We had a problem with reports server that needed re-installing.
After several re-installs of reports server and searching around getting the same problem, I am having to ask your goodselves for advice.
During configuration of reprots services under database connections.
I select the server name and choose to create a new database "ReportsServer"
This is then created but on verifying the database version we have the error.
The database version (C.0.8.40) does not match your reporting services installation.
You must upgrade your reporting services database.
On clicking upgrade.
I get the error.
ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: The version does not match a supported version.
at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.GenerateDatabaseUpgradeScript(String databaseName, String serverVersion, String& script).
The encryption key maintenance options are greyed out.
And the Initialization otpion is greyed out.
The server status has the service as running.
and is running under a domain account with Sys admin rights.
When viewing http://localhost/reports
I get the message
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'Unknown'. The expected version is 'C.0.8.40'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase)
Please can anyone help beofore i go to the last resort of re-installing SQL server from scratch.

Did you install any service pack after re-installing Report Server. Probably the database engine (which you didn't reinstall) is on a different built-level than RS.
So before reinstalling everything try installing the latest SP .

No I did not install any service pack after installing RS
We already have SP2 installed.
Is it worth re-installing SP2?
The current build is 9.00.3068.00SP2Standard Edition

Yes,
whenever you add (or reinstall) a feautre of SQL Server you need to reapply the service pack.

Have re-installed SP2
and now all is working as should be.
WOW.. So simple.
So much searching around and no answer.
