  • helo all,

this is my situation. i have Active directory somethig like |myad.com|, not |myad.local|. dont know if that has anything to do whit that i cant add sql server 2000 to active directory. tried from enterprise manager and even 'sp_ActiveDirectory_SCP'. same thing, pops error Msg 22039, Level 16, State 1: xpadsi.exe failed.

if anyone has some clue what to do, i would be very greatfull.

  • Is the computer in the domain ? Is your account a domain account ? Does the domain account have the correct permissions ? Are there any corresponding entries in the server security/system event logs ? What has changed recently ?

  • I read somewhere that this prob was introduced in SP1.

You have to rename C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn\xpadsi.exe as xpadsiold.exe and replace it with a copy from the SQL Server 2k RTM cd.

The same goes for another file  you will need to look up elsewhere.

Sorry to be so lame - I have not been able to get this to work as yet

  • Hi John,

tried that but its error as before.

  • According to the Microsoft support professionals in this thread:

SQL 2000 AD Forum (@ dbforums)

There are two files to replace:

    xpadsi.exe

    sqladhlp.exe

Failing that, I would call Microsoft Support. It sounds like a legitimate bug and if so, you shouldn't be charged for a support call.

  • Hi,

I know I am too late...

Well, by default MS SQL Server service takes Local Systems Administrator account, when you create domain, you need to manually edit this service account and Add Domain Administrator account into it.

Once this is done, start-stop your services and Add the active directory again, it would be done...

    Good luck...
