error: data source name not found

    hi,

    i am new to analysis services. i was running the foodmart tutorial. i created a dsn as specified in the included tutorial. I was able to create the cube also. but when i process the cude, i get an error saying, like "ODBC error: data source name not found or no default driver specified". what could it be? have gone crazy with this one...

    any help would be appreciated.

    Did you create a system DSN or a user DSN?  What driver are you using and are there any user specific attriutes that you had to specify when creating the DSN?

    i added ODBC SOURCE with the control pannel and i can connect to the remote data base i can have samples of data when browsing the cube but the pprocessing failed

    Hi Ben,

    The reason I asked re: the System or USer DSN is that if it's a user DSN you're user account can access it but the account under which the AS service runs most likely can't.  Go back to control panel|Data Sources (or ODBC Connections if pre WinXP/2K3) and look at the tabs, you should see something like [User]|[System]|[File], if the DSN is in the user tab, create one in the system tab.

    I can't remeber whether the sample data is fetched from the datasource, but if it is, it will be done usin your ccount credentials not the credentials under which the service runs.
