Probs installing this tool

  • Best Practices Analyzer Tool for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 1.0 (Microsoft)

    Anyone here using it?

I run the msi package, specify the path to install, specify the sql server to use and it says ready to install. When I try to go further it says that IE6 or above is required. Both the client and the server are running IE6.

Any ideas? I've seen a few strange things since (client) I was upgraded to XP Pro SP2 such as d/l apps having to be unlocked before running, local code being blocked by IE... could this be another example?

    Many thanks

    Jay

  • We are using it, though I didn't install it.  I'll ask my colleague who did the install if he had similar problems.

  • Just installed and ran last week, had to install NET 1.1 and it's Windows upgrades to get it to work.  IE 6.0 in use and saw no issues with it.  Perhaps do Windows Updates first?

  • My colleague says he didn't have the problem you described.

    Sorry,

  • Thanks, I'll keep digging and tweaking and see if I can get it working.
